Meghalaya Blind Football Team Claims NE Zonal Title

It’s a big for all the football fans. The Meghalaya Blind Football Team secured their dominant victory at the recently concluded North East Zonal Blind Football Tournament held in Aizawl, Mizoram. The North East Zonal Blind Football Tournament was organized by the Indian Blind Football Federation (IBFF).

Their impressive performance not only earned them the North East Zonal Champions title but also a ticket to the National Blind Football Tournament to be held later this year. Meghalaya faced off against teams from Nagaland, Assam, and Mizoram on their path to victory.

Individual accolades were also showered upon Meghalaya players. Klingson D. Marak emerged as the tournament’s top scorer, while Johnborlang Pyngrope was recognized as the Emerging Player.

This win marks a significant achievement for Meghalaya’s blind football program.

The Nagaland Blind Football Team had the first runner-up position. The team narrowly missed the championship title after a 0–1 loss to Meghalaya in the final match. Despite the defeat in the final, the Nagaland team also secured their qualification in the National Blind Football Tournament.

National Blind Football Tournament is scheduled to take place in Pune, Maharashtra, in June this year.
